Lori Tierney Foundation – Running to provide education and a daily meal for children in rural areas in Kenya. What inspires me to build and work for this foundation is the African philosophy of Ubuntu – I exist because of we  - or translated in another way we could say – I am what I am because of who we all are. Although I had been collecting funds and running in events for a number of years, it was in July 2013 that the Lori Tierney Foundation became official. Since then money has been donated via friends, business partners and family members from running events. Running events such as: Rotterdam marathon, Cardiff half marathon, the famous Nijmegen seven hill event and many other more local, smaller events. READ MORE

When I first visited Africa in 2009, it was my first encounter with deep poverty and it had a profound impact on me.  One picture that sticks in my mind is a young boy suffering from Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, were the skin blisters and peels away leaving huge raw, painful patches, he also had aids.  But just sharing some food I had, giving him a little gift of pens and some paper put a huge smile on his face.
